Khold contributes to Football CD

An email from Klanen, the official Vålerenga Football supporters club, says that Norwegian black metalers Khold will contribute to the new tribute CD "Mange motstandere - ingen motstand, en hyllest til Vålerenga" (in English: Many Opponents, No Opposition - a Tribute to Vålerenga) .

The CD hits the streets on the 27th of March. Other hard rocking contributors are Norwegian humor stonerheads Black Debbath and punk metalers The Retardos (whom BTW hs a very non-accessible website).

This has to be the first (Norwegian) black metal song to be featured on a Football CD ever...?

I haven't heard the song yet, but the lyrics on these tribute CD's is always in Norwegian and about Vålerenga crushing it's opponents. Does this mean a new direction for Khold's lyrics as well as their image?

Tides

This is an interesting & little known band in the "post hardcore" / noise / sludge genre. Tides released the album Resurface last year. Read a good review at ultimatemetal.com.

Metalcore goes Pop:
Silverstein - Discovering the Waterfront

Dave Wyndorf of MONSTER MAGNET overdoses - Tour Cancelled

Guess who bought tickets to the Monster Magnet gig in Oslo on the 23rd of March yesterday... Yup, your's truly.

This is the official statement from the band's label SPV :

“ The battle with one’s inner demons is the most personal fight any of us can undertake. The fight is at times a lonely, confusing journey. On the evening of February 27, Dave Wyndorf suffered a set back in his own fight and was hospitalized due to a drug overdose. His full recovery is expected.

We ask that all those he has encountered over the years or simply affected by his music to take a moment to think good thoughts of and for him. With the grace of God and those who love him we are all confident that Dave will rebound from this set back and continue to play and make great rock and roll.”

Boring fact: This is the second time a Monster Magnet gig is cancelled in Oslo.

Silly video, awful song

This is a darn funny video from Norwegian pop ensemble Englefjes: plain old school boring pop music played by what seems to be black metalers. Good idea. Check out da video.
